In composing a balanced class in our school, several factors are taken into consideration:
- Gender Balance
We strive to have a equal representation of girls and boys in each class, however this is subject to the enrollment in any particular program.
- Ethnicity
Here again we strive for balance. Children learn of cultural diversity and find value in our differences in a class that reflects this. We in early childhood education know that we must allow for acceptance and appreciation of ethnic and cultural similarities and differences by providing class composition that allows for this.
- Special Needs or Child's Temperament
We are a school of inclusion. We include special needs children within our classes. We make sure these children are placed in an appropriate class to meet their particular needs. We also take a child's temperament into consideration ight ; 2004 Melody Park Christian School
- Parental Request
This is our last consideration. If you are making a request, we ask that you make appointments with each teacher of the child's program you are interested in (preschool classes or PreK classes) and make a choice based on those observations. During the observations take into consideration: your child (personality and temperament), the teacher's style and her interactions with the children and parents in the class. The education of young children is successfully accomplished through the close relationships of teacher/child and teacher/parent, inter-personal interactions, language and reasoning opportunities, as well as materials and curriculum the teacher provides in her own unique way of classroom environment preparation. Parental requests are just that, requests; we cannot guarantee your child's placement in any particular class. Our staff sign contracts with us in August for the next school year, class teaching assignments are made in the summer -- we do not know at the time of registration if the teachers will be with us in the fall and if so in what class they will be teaching.
